Combining the woodworking expertise of father and son, Paul and Richard Staples, our work focuses on simple, classic designs with attention to detail at the forefront. 

While Paul ran a successful joinery business for over 40 years, Richard developed his passion for wood and the art of furniture design during his time at college, before moving on to spend several years working under some of the finest makers. 

This combination of knowledge and in-depth understanding of working with timber laid the foundation for Lydiates to be born; named after the family farm where we first shared a workshop.

Inspired by Scandinavian minimalism and Japanese design techniques, we are never happier than when bringing our own designs to life in the workshop, which we now share in northern Herefordshire.
